I love The Moth. I listen to every podcast. Stream the radio show whenever I can. I need to get myself to a live show ASAP. Since the moment I heard about them (True Stories Told Live is their tagline) there was a part of me that wanted to play along…I wanted to tell a story. Every time I thought about this, I would become irrationally nervous. I couldn’t think of one story to tell. Not one. So I never bothered.
On my most recent trip to Asheville, I was of course listening to a few Moth stories. I kept hearing them talk about how easy it is to pitch a story. How they listen to every pitch. The same nervousness came over me. Except this time, I thought about all of the stories that I had now that I had begun this project. I wasn’t drawing a blank anymore.
It took a few days to psych myself up for it…but last night I visted their website and recorded my pitch! If they like it, it goes on the site and gets voted for. If not, at least I tried! And as this project goes on, I know I’ll have more stories to share!!
